The current KENP rate: 2026 estimate and monthly history
When someone reads your book on Kindle Unlimited (KU), you aren't paid for a sale — you're paid per page read, measured in KENP (Kindle Edition Normalized Pages). Here is the best estimate for the current month, Amazon's settled rate for every month so far, and exactly how that rate is set.
How the rate is calculated
Every month Amazon sets aside a pot of money called the KDP Select Global Fund (recently ~$60–67 million). At the end of the month it divides that pot by the total number of KENP pages everyone read that month:
per-page rate = Global Fund ÷ total KENP pages read that month
That's why the rate floats: the pot changes, and so does how much everyone read. It can't be known in advance because the “total pages read” is still growing until the month closes. Historically the US rate stays in a tight band — between $0.004091 and $0.005007 per page across the months tracked below.
What a page read is actually worth
At the estimated $0.004800 per page, a reader who finishes a 400-page (KENP) book earns you about $1.92. Half-read, ~$0.96. This is income a normal “ad cost of sale” number never shows you — which is exactly why ads can look unprofitable when they're not. Run your own numbers in the calculator →

Why the current month is only an estimate
Two things lag. First, the rate itself doesn't exist until the month closes and Amazon divides the fund. Second, page reads take roughly 48 hours to fully attribute, so even your own recent KENP counts keep moving for a couple of days. For any decision about money you already earned, use the exact published rate above. For a decision about right now — should I raise this bid today — a trailing-average estimate is the honest best you can do, and pretending otherwise is how authors talk themselves into the wrong call.
